My child already receives OT. Can we add more?Absolutely. You can supplement your current OT services with additional services privately. Does Mini Milestones accept insurance?OT services are covered by select insurance plans, however, we do not bill private insurance directly. We provide a super bill with appropriate billing codes for you to submit to your insurance. Occupational Therapy may also be covered under additional options that are not commonly advertised or well known. Speak to your insurance carrier about flexible spending accounts (FSAs), health savings accounts (HSAs), and network gap exceptions. A network gap exception may also be referred to as a single case agreement (SCA) or Network Deficiency Coverage.

What is a sensory gym?A sensory gym in its most basic sense is an indoor playground with swings, slides, climbing walls, ball pits, and other novel items that may not be available to most kids on an everyday basis. All kids will benefit from play and exploration in this type of environment. There are some children, however, that need skilled sensorimotor play and exploration to help facilitate maturation of reflexes, sensory integration of the 8 senses (yes, 8!), attention, body awareness, fine motor skills, social skills, muscle strength, coordination, balance, emotional regulation, and executive function cognitive processes. Sensory gyms will not replace other types of treatment your child is receiving, but they will help to amplify its effects. And kids just love them so that’s a major win! This is where Occupational Therapy comes in for the double win for developmental gains when working with a client in a sensory gym. At Mini Milestones, your child's OT will be skilled in utilizing our equipment specifically to help with impulse control, coordinated movement patterns without compensations, motor planning for executing preset obstacle courses, ideation for creating their own obstacle courses, movement exploration on new and novel equipment, and developing current and new play schemas and body schemas to facilitate the next stage of development.
